Computing Center GRID - CERN

The GRID Computing Center has 1152 connected computing cores, more than 432 TB of storage capacity, and 10Gbps internet connection. The GRID of the Department of Physics of IHU has been working with CERN as part of the data analysis of the LHC experiment since 2013 .

Electronic Transmission Microscope ΤΕΜ

Transmission Electron Microscopy (TEM) is a powerful tool for studying materials in very high resolution. The TEM provides information on nanostructured materials. The Department of Physics of the IHU has the JEM-2100 which is one of the most up-to-date transmission electron microscopes in the study of nanomaterials, biological samples and semiconductors.

Integrated Thin Film Compression System Sputtering- Magnetron Deposition

One of the most modern methods for creating new advanced materials is the use of a Sputtering - Magnetron Deposition system. Differential Scanning Calorimetry (DSC)

The Differential Scanning Calorimetry technique provides information on the chemical and physical changes occurring in the sample being measured. The DSC technique measures the temperatures and heat flows that occur in materials as a function of time and temperature. The Department of Physics has the PerkinElmer DSC 8000 which is used to characterize a wide range of materials such as polymers, ceramics, hydrocrystals and more.

Thermogravimetric Analysis TGA

Thermogravimetric or thermogravitational analysis (TGA) is one of the thermal methods of characterizing materials. TGA measures the change in mass as the temperature increases. Used as a technique to determine the purity of carbon, water, composition of materials, etc. The Physics Department has the PerkinElmer TGA Pyris 1

Photonic Bank Super continuum Fiber Laser NTK Photonics

The Physics Department has an optical bank equipped with ultrasound laser. The SuperK Extreme laser source has a wavelength of 400 -2400nm and can be used in a wide range of applications such as Fluorescence Lifetime Imaging (FLIM), Optical Coherence Tomography (OCT), Time Correlated Single Photon Counting (TCSPC), Förster Resonance Energy Transfer ( FRET), Flow cytometry, DNA sequencing, White Light Inteferometry (WLI)

Optical fiber splicer

The transmission of light signals over long distances, with higher bandwidth and faster speeds is performed with fiber optic. One particular field of physics deals with research on the possibilities and applications of fiber optics. The Department of Physics has a complete system (Sumitomo) for cutting, welding and quality testing of optical fibers.

Radiation Measurement System

In the field of non-ionizing radiation measurements, the Physics Department has the Narda SRM-300 Selective Radiation Meter and the Narda NBM -550 Broadband Field Meter. Using this equipment can measure electromagnetic fields and RF radiation in antennas, mobile radar and more.

Wireless Sensor Networks

Monitoring of various critical factors in industry, the environment, agriculture, homes and elsewhere is achieved through the use of wireless sensor networks. The Physics Department has a complete sensor collection, recording and processing system.

Electrical Characteristics Analyzers

The electrical characteristics analyzer consists of a semiconductor parameter analyzer and an RF analyzer. More specifically, it consists of an Agilent's B1500A and an E4991A analyzer.

Semiconductor Simulation Software

Since semiconductors are prevalent in modern technology, they are an excellent field of research and education. Before implementing real circuits, it is necessary to simulate 2 or 3 dimensions of electrical, optical or thermal simulations. The simulations are performed with the specialized software ATLAS.

Optical Time Domain Reflectometer

The OTDR is used to control the quality of pipelines for longitudinal losses. The Physics Department has the Anritsu CMA5000 / a OTDR.
